Actual gameplay from a deliberately staged five-seat game. Pre-release.

Short description

Search a sunken wreck with a crew whose goals are not all the same. Divers want every pearl recovered. Sirens want the Leviathan awake, or the final dive to end with pearls still hidden. Players declare what they hold, truthfully or otherwise. Whoever holds the lamp chooses a cache to open.

About the game

Each player has a secret allegiance and a private hand. The hand shows which cards they hold, but not where those cards lie among their face-down caches.

The lamp holder chooses another player's cache to open. The player whose cache was opened receives the lamp and makes the next choice. A declaration can guide that choice, but a player can lie about their cards and allegiance.

In The Descent, the Divers win by recovering every pearl. The Sirens win when enough Leviathans open to wake the Leviathan, or the final dive ends with pearls still hidden. The table shows the progress and the air left for the dive. Optional rules, items and roles change how a game unfolds.
